Hey Rukket Nation! Henry Fall from Milo Lines Golf Academy. Today, I want to share with you one of the simplest yet most effective drills to improve your chipping and short game. This drill uses the Rukket Sports Haack Pro Golf Net and focuses on utilizing your chest and core for better control and consistency.
Using Your Chest for Better Chip Shots
In your setup, club and body positioning are key for better chip shots. To position your club, place your club into your sternum and grip down with your arms relaxed, not extended or tight. Stand tall and point the club down toward a spot a couple of feet outside where the ball would be. Avoid bending over too much and maintain a relatively upright posture.
The Motion
To begin the motion, start by winding up your chest, then unwind it in a smooth motion. Focus on using your chest and torso to move the club rather than just your hands and arms. Take a few practice swings and make small motions to get the feel of the club gliding through the ground. This will help develop the sensation of using your chest to control the swing.
Applying the Drill to Your Chip Shots
Now, you can begin transitioning this motion and apply it to real practice shots. Take the sensation of winding and unwinding your chest into your chip shots. Practice hitting a few chips right off the green, aiming for smooth, gliding contact with the ground. Ensure that your chest is doing the majority of the work, not just your hands and arms. This helps you use your core and torso, providing better control and reducing common chipping problems.
Benefits of This Drill
By using your chest and core, you achieve a more stable and consistent swing. Utilizing your full body rather than just your hands and arms helps you control the club better and avoid pitfalls at the bottom of the swing. This drill simplifies the chipping process, making it easier to repeat and master.
This simple drill is a game-changer for your chipping technique. By focusing on using your chest and core, you’ll develop a more consistent and controlled swing. Practice this drill regularly with the Haack Pro Golf Net, and you’ll see significant improvements in your short game.
